Choosing to enter a new market can be challenging – the process is complex and it can be long and arduous to complete. ePsolutions' experienced professionals are available to help companies through this lengthy and sometimes confusing legal process.

For all new companies entering the ERCOT market, a mandatory flight test will be required in order to ensure that your systems and processes are capable of meeting the Texas SET market standards. These flight tests are conducted by ERCOT three times annually and require that the entity have completed certain business and informational filings prior to being allowed to go-live in the market. Once entered, you will be required to complete a series of specific scripts which mirror the normal market activities as a means of testing your systems and processes for conformity with market protocol. Each day you will be required to attend a market call to review the current days activity and address any errors or delays that might be occurring within the flight test. In addition, previous transactions which have not been completed will be addressed. While most scripts are simply transactional in nature, some scripts will require monetary transfers in order to be completed. Upon completion of the flight test (normally within 6 weeks) a new entity will begin the process of going live in the Texas market. This process includes a black out period as well as execution of additional documentation. In all instances, satisfactory completion of a flight test is required before an entity may begin offering electricity within the deregulated Texas electric market.
